Welcome to STAG, the Smokeless Tobacco Action Group.
STAG was formed by smokeless tobacco (ST) users who have three goals:
  1. For tobacco control experts to recognise that western ST is a harm reduction measure for smokers who cannot quit.
  2. For Australian Governments to reverse legislation banning the import and sale of ST products, and
  3. For ST products to be taxed fairly as a low risk tobacco product.

A new article published by Brad Rodu and William Godshall titled “Tobacco harm reduction: an alternative cessations strategy for inveterate smokers” says there is scientific and medical foundation for tobacco harm reduction using ST products.

STAG was formed by ST users (“dippers”) who wanted governments to adopt a sensible approach to ST.
While Governments continue to allow cigarettes to be freely available, they have no right to ban ST from sale.

We invite you to join us and become a member of STAG as we strive to have governments realise that they can make a positive difference to the  incidence of smoking in Australia.  Membership is free and confidential.
